The Stipendium Hungaricam Scholarship Awardees Send Off Ceremony, organised by the Ministry of Higher Education, and the Honorary Consul of Hungary, was held on 31 August 2022 at Hotel Jen. The event was graced by the Honorable Minister of Higher Education, Dr. Ibrahim Hassan, and the Honorary Consul of Hungary in Maldives, Mr. Mohamed Ali Janah.

The Stipendium Hungaricam Scholarship is a bilateral agreement between the Government of Maldives and the Government of Hungary, with utmost effort from the Honorary Consul and the Ministry of Higher Education. The current agreement is for 45 scholarships over 3 years. That is 15 scholarships per year. The first batch of scholarship was awarded to 12 awardees. This is one of the largest fully funded scholarship programs, and it provides Maldivian students with funding options for courses ranging from Bachelor’s Degrees to Doctorate courses.
