
Mr. Mohamed Ali Janah, son of Late Mr. Ali Hussain and Ms. Fathimath Hameeda, of H. Sea Side, Male’, Maldives is a Maldivian national who has been serving in the construction industry of the Maldives for the past 30 years. He currently lives in Maldives while his three children, Miss Ayesha Nurain Janah, Miss Khadhyja Naushyn Janah and Mr. Ahmed Jasim Janah, live in New Zealand since they moved to pursue their studies, each of them successfully following their parents’ footsteps to become influential youth.
After a brief tenure in the United States and Philippines, Mr. Janah returned to Maldives in 1987 to take over his parents’ business Alysen Services Pvt Ltd and started his career in the industry. Currently he wears many hats, starting from the Chairman of Hotels and Resort Construction Pvt Ltd, his main business company. He is also the Honorary Advisor to Pristine Maldives and a partner in Ithaafushi Investments, that developed and operates the Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi in Kaafu atoll. Mr. Janah was also the Chairman of the Maldives Building and Construction Board, a board member of the Maldives Monetary Authority and the CEO of GA. Kooddoo Domestic Airport from 2012-2022.
To extend his knowledge and experience to help the construction industry he has been one of the key people in the Maldives National Association for Construction Industry –MNACI, and has served as MNACI’s president for over 6 tenures combined. In October 2021, he was re-elected as the president of MNACI. His effort was one of the reasons why Maldives was accepted into the International Federation of Asian and Western Pacific Contractors’ Associations-IFAWPCA and he is currently serving as their President after taking his oath as the President of IFAWPCA in November 2018. Additionally, he is also the President of National Federation of Maldivian Employers-NFME.
Mr. Janah has been awarded the National Award of Recognition in the area of Architecture, Construction and Consultancy by the Government of Maldives in November 2017. In 2018 December Janah was awarded "Entrepreneur of the Year 2018" by Maldives Business Awards.
Mr. Janah was appointed by the Government of Hungary, as the Honorary Consul of Hungary in the Maldives. The acceptance of the appointment, by the Government of Maldives, was announced by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Honorable Dr Abdulla Shahid, on 5 July 2021. Further to the acceptance of Mr. Janah’s appointment by the Government of Maldives, as the Honorary Consul of Hungary in the Maldives, The Honorable Ambassador of Hungary in New Delhi, Mr András László Király, appointed Mr. Janah as the Honorary Consul of Hungary in the Maldives at the Embassy of Hungary in New Delhi on 23 July 2021.
