During the visit of His Excellency Péter Szijártó, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary, to Maldives, on his first official visit to Maldives, Mr. Mohamed Ali Janah was promoted from Honorary Consul of Hungary in Maldives to Honorary Consul-General of Hungary in Maldives.

Mr. Janah was appointed as the Honorary Consul of Hungary in Maldives in July 2021.

Subsequently the Office for the Honorary Consulate of Hungary in Maldives was opened in September 2021.

A little more than a year on, the Hungarian Government has observed the cooperation of Mr. Janah and proceeded with the promotion in October 2022.
